AN IMPORTANT NOTE ABOUT ALTERATIONS AND WARRANTIES

  • Installations or alterations to the original GM-equipped vehicle (or chassis) are not covered by the General Motors New Vehicle Limited Warranty.
  • The special body company, assembler, equipment installer or upfitter is solely responsible for warranties on the body or equipment and any alterations (or any effect of the alterations) to any of the parts, components, systems or assemblies installed by GM.
  • General Motors is not responsible for the safety or quality of design features, materials or workmanship of any alterations by such suppliers.

GM PROTECTION PLAN
The GM Protection Plan is the only vehicle service and maintenance contract endorsed by General Motors and brought to you by GMAC Insurance, the insurance people from GMAC. The GM Protection Plan offers mechanical coverage for the parts and labor costs of repairing covered vehicle components against failure — even if it results from wear and tear (except in Kentucky). Depending on the level of coverage, additional benefits may include:

  • Roadside Assistance Program

What about Courtesy Transportation?
Courtesy Transportation is also included for 5 years/100,000 miles (whichever comes first) on all 2007 passenger cars and light-duty trucks. Whenever warranty repairs are required, several transportation options and/or reimbursement of certain transportation expenses are available for your convenience at participating dealer/retailers.
What kind of deductible do I have to pay for all this protection?
There are no deductibles for covered repairs.
Is my vehicle covered from rust, too?
GM vehicles are designed and built to resist corrosion. All Chevrolet/GMC body and sheet metal components have a limited warranty against rust-through corrosion for 6 years/100,000 miles (whichever comes first). Application of additional rust-inhibiting materials is not required under the corrosion coverage and none is recommended. See your GM dealer/retailer for terms of this limited warranty.
I purchased a 2007 GM vehicle in March. Is my new vehicle eligible?
Yes. If you already purchased a 2007 GM passenger car or light duty truck, your new vehicle is automatically covered under our new 100,000-Mile/5-year powertrain limited warranty* at no extra cost. You will receive an updated warranty booklet insert for your glove box literature within the next several weeks. Your GM dealer can confirm this coverage in the GMVIS (GM Vehicle Inquiry System).
My 2007 Chevrolet Silverado has a DuraMax Diesel Engine. How does this announcement affect my Duramax diesel powertrain warranty?
You are no longer required to pay the $100 deductible previously associated with your Duramax Engine powertrain limited warranty.
When will I receive updated documentation to prove that I have the new powertrain warranty coverage on my 2007 GM vehicle?
A warranty booklet supplement to your glove box literature will be mailed to you within the next several weeks. If you did not receive a supplement, you may obtain one from your GM dealer or have your dealer order one through GM Dealer Materials.
I noticed in your recent announcement that the powertrain warranty on my new Tahoe is transferable at no charge. How does a customer transfer the warranty?
There is no transfer required. Regardless of ownership, the powertrain limited warranty stays with your 2007 GM light duty vehicle for 5 years or 100,000 miles (whichever comes first).
I purchased a GMPP extended warranty prior to the announcement of GM extending coverage and want my money back. How do I apply for reimbursement?
Because you have also purchased a GM Protection Plan Vehicle Service Contract, our GM Protection Plan team will be contacting you by mail shortly with additional details on how the new Chevy/GMC 100,000-Mile/5 Year Powertrain Limited Warranty impacts your GM Protection Plan Contract.
Do I have to take my vehicle to a GM dealer/retailer for maintenance to maintain my extended powertrain eligibility?
GM dealer/retailers have the specialized training and GM genuine parts and accessories to ensure your vehicle is repaired and maintained properly. Although you are not required to have your vehicle maintained at a GM dealer/retailership, we highly recommend that you do. In addition, we encourage you to keep detailed records and receipts of your maintenance history.
Does the required maintenance of my vehicle change as a result of this new powertrain limited warranty?
As a vehicle owner, you are responsible for the performance of the scheduled maintenance listed in you Owner's Manual throughout the warranty period. Your owner's manual provides a detailed maintenance schedule that you should follow for your specific vehicle and driving habits. In addition, we strongly encourage you to keep detailed records and receipts of your maintenance history.
Can I purchase this extra powertrain coverage for my 2006 (and prior) vehicle?
You may be eligible to choose from one of our GMPP offerings which can be tailored to meet your needs — including extended powertrain coverage. Please contact your selling dealer/retailership for details on the various GM Protection Plan programs.
