How Louisville Area Drivers Can Maintain Their GMC Sierra 1500

There's no denying that the GMC Sierra 1500 is a reliable pickup truck for drivers in the greater Louisville and Omaha areas. There are many stories out there of the vehicles lasting well over 150,000 miles, and properly maintaining your truck goes a long way in making sure that goal is attainable. Here at Copple Chevrolet GMC, we'd like to give drivers a few pointers on the matter so you can maximize the rugged reliability of the GMC truck.

While much of this is outlined in the owner's manual, it's important to go over it again. To keep the GMC Sierra 1500 running strong, the first line of defense is always to have regular service checks, and you can do that by scheduling an appointment with our GMC service technicians, who can take care of all your auto repair and maintenance needs. To know when to bring your truck in to be serviced, take a look at the list we've put together below.

2012 GMC Sierra 1500 Service Schedule

- Make sure you have your tires rotated and perform engine oil level and oil life percentage checks, and if needed, change the oil filter at 7,500-mile intervals.

- Every 45,000 miles, inspect the evaporative control system and replace the engine air cleaner filter.

- When your GMC Sierra 1500 reaches 97,500 miles, inspect spark plug wires, and replace the spark plugs themselves. You should also change automatic transmission fluid and on four-wheel drive models, change the transfer case.

- When you reach the 150,000-mile plateau, be sure and drain, flush, and fill the engine cooling system or low pressure cooling system, and examine the accessory drive belts.

Of course, there are many other small tasks that can be done to make sure the GMC Sierra 1500 runs at peak performance at all times.
